Jason Hynd

Jason is a sports therapist practicing at the Billingham Forum Clinic. He also teaches on the BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy degree programme at the University of Teesside. In addition, he regularly presents external sports injury lectures to athletes and coaches.

Jason’s interest in sports injuries established over a decade ago when he began competing in mountain biking and road cycling events. During this time he experienced a number of injuries and biomechanical issues related to bike fit and realised the importance of an athlete’s psychological state during injury. Jason subsequently completed a BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy at the University of Teesside achieving first class honours.

During his studies Jason gained experience working in a diverse number of environments including Leeds United F.C. (alongside current Chelsea physio Dave Hancock), Middlesbrough F.C. academy, Catterick Garrison Regional Rehabilitation Unit, St. Johnstone F.C., Hartlepool RFC and Teamendurasport (professional cycling team based in Italy).

The Billingham Forum Clinic provides support for numerous funded athletes from the English Institute of Sport, England Athletics, Tees Active Sports Academy and the University of Teesside Elite Athlete Bursary Scheme. There is also provision for the Tees Active Backcare Scheme and a wide range of athletes throughout the northeast. This has enabled Jason to gain knowledge and skills within a diverse number of sports at the highest level.

Jason’s clinical experience has enhanced his interest in swimming, cycling and running related injuries. He is currently exploring research related to 3-D video analysis and bike fit for injury prevention.

When not in the clinic or lecturing Jason is usually found within the North York Moors cycling or fell running.
